Convector Radiators

Convector radiators have been at the top of the radiator game for decades, this is because of their unique and efficient heat outputs. They can rapidly heat up and emit heat evenly around your room while being incredibly affordable and flexible in size.

Heat your space with our premium convector radiators

You’ve probably noticed that our range of convector radiators have Type 11, Type 21 and so on in the title. But what does it mean? First you’ll need to know how convector radiators heat. They aren’t built like a standard radiator which heats from top to bottom or vice versa, instead convector radiators circulate water around the radiator itself, the tubes are surrounded by fins within the panels of the radiator, these fins are then heated up, the benefit of this is that they bring more surface area to the radiator to provide more heat, so the more panels and fins the radiator has, the quicker and better it will heat.

  • Type 11 convector radiators feature a single panel and single set of fins inside which provide quicker heat up times than your standard radiator.
  • Type 21 radiators are a step above, it features two sets of panels, one close to the wall side and one outwards, with one set of convector fins.
  • Type 22 radiators have two sets of panels along with two sets of fins. They produce exceptional heat outputs very quickly, though they are thicker than the previous radiators, so they will take up more space.
  • Type 33 radiators are the most impressive, featuring three panels and 3 sets of fins, but it is the largest and widest of the convectors. These are great if you are looking to heat a very large room, but might not be ideal if you’re limited on space.
  • Now you know the types, but what about the size? Radiators come in a wide range of size options with an even wider range of BTU outputs, so use our free BTU calculator to work out the heat output your room requires to heat efficiently. Just input the room's dimensions and a few details regarding your room and our calculator will tell you the BTU needed and will recommend some suitable radiators.

    Convector Radiators Popular Questions

Are convector radiators better for heating?

Convector radiators feature panels and fins for more surface area, this means the more surface area the radiator has the quicker and higher it will heat. Convector radiators also circulate water throughout the radiator rather than from top to bottom, which improves its performance even further. Convector radiators have been a popular choice for many years due to their extremely impressive heat outputs.

How do you bleed a convector radiator?

A convector radiator can be bled the same way as any other central heating radiator. Take a look at our step by step guide on how to bleed your radiators.

Do convector radiators take up space?

Type 11 radiators are thin in design, they are ideal for smaller rooms that are tight on space.

Type 22 radiators are a little thicker, still slim in design, these are ideal for small to medium type rooms which are also limited on space.

Type 33 radiators are thicker due to the design so they do take up more space, they produce a higher heat output than type 11 and 22, so are best suited for medium to large rooms.

    What size do I need?

Take a look at our free and easy to use BTU calculator to help you work out the heat requirement for your space. Just fill in the dimensions of your room along with some information regarding the rooms design and out calculator and work out the rest and will also filter to show you the most ideal radiators to heat your room effectively.
